Components, Middleware and Web Services

چکیده
Web services are a logical evolution of software components and middleware. Based on a comparison of Web services with middleware and components we come up with the statement that Web services are components and middleware in one. However, for the Web services to live up to their potential as an integrating technology for mission critical Webbased applications, it is necessary to provide viable coordination and transaction capabilities. We introduce the notion of hyperware for the framework that will play the same role for Web services the middleware plays for components.

Software Technologies for Developing Distributed Systems: Objects and Beyond
A distributed system is a computing system in which a number of components cooperate by communicating over a network. The explosive growth of the Internet and the World Wide Web in the mid-1990's moved distributed systems beyond their traditional application areas, such as industrial automation, defense, and telecommunication, and into nearly all domains, including e-commerce, financial service...
متن کاملAccess control in ultra-large-scale systems using a data-centric middleware
The primary characteristic of an Ultra-Large-Scale (ULS) system is ultra-large size on any related dimension. A ULS system is generally considered as a system-of-systems with heterogeneous nodes and autonomous domains. As the size of a system-of-systems grows, and interoperability demand between sub-systems is increased, achieving more scalable and dynamic access control system becomes an im...
متن کاملExposing Application Components as Web Services
This paper explores technology permitting arbitrary application components to be exposed for remote access from other software. Using this, the application and its constituent components can be written without concern for its distribution. Software running in different address spaces, on different machines, can perform operations on the remotely accessible components. This is of utility in the ...
متن کاملSemantics-Based Dynamic Web Service Composition
This paper presents a semantics-based dynamic service composition architecture that composes an application through combining distributed components based on the semantics of the components. This architecture consists of a component model called Component Service Model with Semantics (CoSMoS), a middleware called Component Runtime Environment (CoRE), and a service composition mechanism called S...
متن کاملIEEE Pervasive Computing: Context-Aware Computing - The Ubiquitous Provisioning of Internet Services to Portable Devices
T he diffusion of wireless connections in home and office computing environments along with the proliferation of portable devices present new scenarios for service provisioning.1 We must not only extend access to traditional Internet services to mobile users and devices but also develop new classes of location-dependent services. In addition, such provisioning to portable devices must consider ...
